Depending on how old you are, you may not have seen, or perhaps conveniently "forgotten," that Bea Arthur was in the Star Wars Holiday Special. Watch her serve drinks and sing...

Last month, we played "musical cubicles" at the office. I used to have a huge south-facing window behind me, which allowed for pretty good FM radio reception. Now I'm working a bit further from that southern window, and as a result my radio reception... well... sucks. Rather than curse the darkness (or should I say silence), I thought I would listen to podcasts to help fill the day with noise... er, music. Music and a little chatter. I've discovered that there are number of shows that feature podsafe music (and talk, which is always podsafe), and through the magic of Ziepod I can download and organize them. Here's what I've found:

Music Shows

• Ambient podcast from Magnatune.com - Ambient music (duh) from Magnatune.com which is a record label specializing in podsafe music.


• Classical podcast from Magnatune.com - A little Beethoven never hurt anyone.


• Kahn Man's Comedy Corner - Funny music, but this one is better suited for outside office listening, when I can give the show my full attention.


• The Night Air - Wil Wheaton wrote about this one on his blog, so I added it to my podcasts. While it's not strictly a music-oriented program, there's enough that I'm considering it as music show. Again, this is one of these podcasts that's better when I give it my full attention.


• Tom Robinson Introducing... - I surfed over to the BBC and randomly looked at the rock/indie section, and found this one. FTW!


• TPN Rock: The Rock Show - Unsigned rock bands delivered by thepodcastnetwork.com. FTW 2!


• WFMU's Antique Phonograph Music Program - "78s and cylinders are played on actual period reproducing devices." Great stuff! However, it's only updated every other week, so it gets a bit repetitious if I listen to it every day for two weeks.

Talk Shows

• The Adam Carolla Podcast - KLSX's talk format died so that Adam Carolla's podcast could live. It's something new every day, and the FCC can't stop him from saying naughty words.


• Off The Wall - But it's not wacky comedy (although sometimes it can be amusing). I first found this show on 90.1 WUSB, but thanks to the podcast, I can listen whenever I want.


• Opie and Anthony Show Podcasts - Highlights from O&A on terrestrial radio, but if you've kept up with the rumors, it won't last much longer before they become satellite-only.
